8 Call Of Duty Games Still Missing From Game Pass
Following Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard, Xbox Game Pass subscribers expected a robust library of classic Call of Duty titles. However, many prominent entries in the franchise remain absent from the service.
When Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, fans anticipated that the publisher's expansive catalog of legacy Call of Duty titles would quickly arrive on Xbox Game Pass. Despite expectations that Microsoft would leverage these historic releases to bolster its subscription service, the platform has seen relatively few additions from the celebrated first-person shooter series.
Among the notable omissions is 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops, developed by Treyarch. Famous for its intense campaign featuring high-stakes narrative moments like a mission targeting Fidel Castro, the game introduced long-standing fan-favorite characters. It also marked the debut of the iconic Nuketown map, which became a staple for multiplayer deathmatches across the franchise.
Another Treyarch entry unavailable on the service is Call of Duty: World at War from 2008. While it returned the series to a World War II setting, it is primarily remembered for introducing the cooperative Zombies mode. That initial iteration required players to work together against escalating waves of undead, laying the foundation for a feature that eventually became a core component of future releases.
Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, released in 2014, also remains missing from the Game Pass catalog. The title gained cultural notoriety for spawning the popular "Press F to pay respects" meme during an early funeral scene. Its narrative focused on the tension between private military corporations and government authority, featuring actor Kevin Spacey as the antagonist Jonathan Irons.
Call of Duty: Ghosts, which launched in 2013, represents another absent title. Developed by Infinity Ward alongside Neversoft and Raven Software, the project followed the high-profile departures of studio co-founders Vince Zampella and Jason West in 2010. Although the game featured slower pacing and different map designs than its predecessors, it still delivered the signature cinematic action sequences expected from the series.
Treyarch's 2012 release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, is similarly unavailable. The game stood out for its flexible loadout systems in multiplayer and memorable maps such as Raid, Hijacked, and Slums. It was also recognized for its futuristic 2025 setting, branching campaign choices with multiple endings, an expanded Zombies experience featuring maps like Mob of the Dead and Origins, and its main antagonist Raul Menendez.
The sci-fi-oriented Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare from 2016 continues to be left off the platform as well. Developed by Infinity Ward, the game moved the series into space combat, featuring zero-gravity firefights and story performances by Brian Bloom and Kit Harington. Additionally, select retail packages of the title originally included Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a bonus pack-in.
Rounding out the missing legacy titles are updated versions of the series' most influential modern entries. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which upgraded the ground-breaking 2007 release that transitioned the series away from World War II, remains absent. Similarly, 2020's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered—which featured updated visuals for the campaign, Hans Zimmer's score, and the infamous "No Russian" mission—has yet to join the Game Pass library.
