Pokémon Go Zorua Community Day Event Guide

Pokémon Go features Unovan Zorua for its October 10 Community Day from 2-5 p.m. local time. Players can enjoy elevated shiny chances, triple catch experience, and special evolution moves for Zoroark. Lure Modules maintain boosted spawns and shiny odds until 9 p.m., while strategic buddy settings allow players to streamline the catching process.

Niantic's popular mobile title Pokémon Go is highlighting the Unovan version of Zorua during its Community Day on Saturday, October 10. Running locally from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., the three-hour event exclusively features the original dark-type form rather than its ghost- and normal-type Hisuian counterpart. Throughout the gathering, wild Zorua will appear en masse, giving active participants significantly increased opportunities to encounter its rare shiny variation.

Because of Zorua's distinct mechanics, wild encounters will initially mirror whichever companion creature a trainer currently has set as their active buddy. The trickster pocket monster reveals its true identity only after a successful capture, mimicking the disguise mechanic famously utilized by Ditto. Historical data compiled by community researchers indicates that featured Community Day shiny rates hover around 1 in 24, offering dedicated players a strong likelihood of securing several shiny specimens throughout the afternoon.

Evolving Zorua into Zoroark between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. local time grants the dark-type evolution the exclusive fast move Sucker Punch. Players who miss this specific seven-hour window can still teach Zoroark the attack by using an Elite Fast TM or by waiting for the end-of-year catch-up event usually hosted in December. Despite obtaining this event-exclusive ability, competitive analysis indicates that Zoroark remains relatively weak across player-versus-player battle leagues, gym battles, and raid scenarios, even when utilizing optimal movesets like Sucker Punch paired with Foul Play.

A variety of event-wide perks will remain active during the primary three-hour timeframe. Trainers will earn triple experience points for every capture, double the standard amount of catch candy, and twice the chance for players at level 31 or higher to collect Candy XL. Furthermore, standard Incense items activated during the window will last for three hours, Lure Modules will persist for one hour, and daily trades will cost half as much Stardust alongside one extra allowed special trade. Snapshot photos taken during the period will also trigger guaranteed Zorua surprise encounters.

Extended Lure Module bonuses will run past the main celebration, keeping active Lures boosted from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. local time. During these extra hours, Zorua will continue spawning abundantly from active modules, maintaining both the elevated Community Day shiny odds and the possibility of catching individuals featuring Special Backgrounds. To further maximize resource efficiency, players are advised to pop Lucky Eggs and deploy Mega-Evolved pocket monsters like Gyarados, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Sableye, Sharpedo, Absol, Greninja, or Malamar to score additional Zorua Candy for each successful catch.

To optimize time spent catching during the event, players can employ a few practical tricks to skip time-consuming transform sequences. Setting a Zorua as the active buddy creature bypasses the lengthy transformation animation entirely upon capture, as does executing standard quick-catch maneuvers. Furthermore, players aiming to complete Masterwork Research or level-up tasks requiring excellent throws can set large-profile buddy creatures such as Snorlax, Wailmer, or Gourgeist, causing disguised wild Zorua to spawn with vastly expanded target rings.
