Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially introduced a new entertainment feature for PlayStation 5 owners in the United States. Starting today, the console maker is rolling out Live TV on PS5, a free, ad-supported streaming service developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television. The new platform is designed to give players immediate access to a wide variety of broadcast programming and on-demand video content without requiring any additional paid subscriptions.
The service launches with a robust lineup of more than 100 live channels, supplemented by a library of on-demand entertainment that will continue to grow over time. PlayStation 5 users can find the new application directly within the Media section of their console's home screen. To begin watching, users simply need to navigate to the Media tab, select the dedicated Live TV on PS5 icon, and log in using their existing PlayStation Network credentials to link their account.
At launch, the service's content catalog features partnerships with major media brands and studios, including Amazon MGM Studios, Lionsgate, FOX, NBCUniversal, and A+E. Movie enthusiasts can access dedicated film channels such as MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Cinevault, and Sony One Horror Hits, which broadcast a rotating selection of action, sci-fi, and horror films.
For television fans, the platform hosts a variety of popular syndicated series and reality programs. Viewers can tune into dedicated streams for acclaimed dramas and comedies like Community, The Shield, and The Walking Dead. Reality and unscripted television are also heavily represented, with channels broadcasting Hell's Kitchen, Deal or No Deal USA, Fear Factor, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, and Ice Road Truckers from the History channel.
Anime fans will find a dedicated selection of classic and contemporary Japanese animation on the service. The lineup includes popular franchises such as Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note. Additionally, Sony has partnered with Crunchyroll to offer exclusive streaming options, including dedicated channels for Black Clover and curated anime box sets.
Sports and news coverage are also central to the Live TV on PS5 experience. The platform features sports programming from major organizations and networks, including NASCAR, UFC, FOX Sports, and NBC Sports Now, covering everything from mixed martial arts and football to hockey, golf, and motorsports. National and local news updates are provided through outlets like NBC News Now, Fox Weather, and LiveNOW from FOX.
Beyond traditional television formats, the service incorporates creator-led and specialty programming. This includes popular internet culture shows like Hot Ones, podcasts and sports analysis from Spotify's The Ringer, and gaming-centric content from creators like Futcrunch and Idle Mode. The platform also features dedicated esports and gaming broadcasts, highlighted by the exclusive channel eCLUTCH.
Sony has stated that the programming lineup for Live TV on PS5 will remain dynamic, with plans to regularly refresh the available content, introduce new channels, and expand the overall library over time. While the service is currently exclusive to the United States, the company has confirmed that it is actively working to bring the platform to Canadian players, with further international expansion being explored for the future.
