Developer Wolf Haus Games has revealed new details about its upcoming sandbox survival title, JOIN US, which is scheduled to launch in March 2027. The game places players in control of a commune known as The Infants of Sheep, situated in a wide-open rural region of America. While the group's members describe themselves as a family working to improve the world, the gameplay revolves around expanding a loyal following, establishing a base of operations, and managing resources in preparation for an impending apocalypse.

Recruitment is a central mechanic in JOIN US, requiring players to interact with local townspeople to convince them to join the commune. Players can utilize persuasive dialogue to win over new members or distribute promotional flyers throughout the town to increase their numbers. Additionally, the game features a "Teachings" system where players can establish a unique ideology and set of beliefs for their group. These custom doctrines offer creative and aggressive methods for expanding the flock, such as physically striking non-believers with baseball bats to force their conversion.

Building and maintaining a compound is another key aspect of the survival experience. Players can customize their commune by placing structures almost anywhere they choose within their territory. Initial setups typically include tents, beds, campfires for cooking, and propaganda stations to facilitate further recruitment. To expand the base with advanced structures and tools, players must venture into nearby towns to scavenge for necessary building supplies. A fax machine located inside the compound serves as a direct line for receiving specific objectives and goals to keep the commune focused.

The game features an open-world environment where players can acquire and drive various vehicles, each offering distinct handling characteristics. Available transportation options include camper vans, pickup trucks, and golf carts, which players can freely commandeer to navigate the map. However, survival is constantly threatened by hostile forces. Local residents and peace officers are highly resistant to the commune's presence, often launching armed assaults on the compound or shooting members on sight. Players must navigate these dangers while managing a party of up to four characters in cooperative play.

To defend against hostile factions, players can locate and break open weapon caches scattered throughout the world. These stockpiles allow the commune to build an arsenal of military-grade weaponry, including pistols, machetes, and AK-47 rifles. Combat carries permanent consequences, as lost followers do not return, forcing players to recruit new members to replace their fallen shooters. Guidance is provided throughout the journey by the commune's Leader, who communicates instructions and survival tips over the radio to help players navigate their living situation.

A unique mechanic in JOIN US is the ability to swap bodies among commune members. If a player's active character becomes tired or hungry, they can freely transfer their consciousness into any other follower currently active in the game world. This ability is directly tied to the size of the commune, meaning a larger roster of recruited members grants players more opportunities for body swapping. Mysterious environmental phenomena, such as skies turning purple and strange green lights emanating from the compound, also hint at supernatural elements tied to the approaching end of the world.

JOIN US is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud platforms. The title will be included with Xbox Game Pass at launch, allowing subscribers to play on both console and PC at no additional cost through the Xbox Play Anywhere program. Prospective players can currently add the game to their digital wishlists ahead of its March 2027 debut.
