Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Extended, Adds Double XP To Help You Grind For Rewards

Activision has extended the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 open beta by 12 hours and activated double XP bonuses. Players now have until late September 1 to level up and earn exclusive rewards before the beta concludes.

Activision has announced a last-minute extension for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 open beta, giving players extra time to experience the multiplayer portion of the upcoming shooter. Originally scheduled to conclude on September 1 at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET, the playtest has been extended by a full 12 hours. Under the revised schedule, the beta is now set to wrap up at 10:00 PM PT on September 1, which translates to 1:00 AM ET on September 2.

To help players make the most of this additional time, Activision has activated double progression experience points (XP) alongside double weapon XP. These bonuses will remain active until the beta officially closes. The double XP incentives are designed to assist players in grinding through the remaining levels of the beta to unlock various in-game rewards that will carry over to the final release.

Among the rewards available during this testing period is a special weapon blueprint. To secure this exclusive item, players must reach the beta's maximum level cap, which is set at level 30. The 12-hour extension, combined with the active double XP multipliers, significantly reduces the time required to reach this milestone, making the grind more manageable for those balancing the game with daily responsibilities.

Once this open beta period officially concludes, players will have to wait until the game's formal launch to access the multiplayer modes again. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to release on October 23. However, players who choose to preorder the game will receive early access to the single-player campaign, which is scheduled to unlock one week prior to the multiplayer launch.

This year's entry represents a major shift in platform availability for the franchise. Modern Warfare 4 is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 console. Notably, this release marks the first time a Call of Duty game will be available on a Nintendo platform since the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts in 2013.

In addition to expanding its reach to Nintendo's next-generation hardware, Modern Warfare 4 is officially abandoning older console generations. This is the first entry in the long-running military shooter franchise to completely skip PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since the series transitioned to a cross-generation release model with the launch of Ghosts over a decade ago.

The timing of the Modern Warfare 4 launch on October 23 positions it in a highly competitive autumn release window. The blockbuster shooter will arrive on store shelves exactly 34 days before Rockstar Games' highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, which is currently scheduled to make its debut on November 19.
