Team Fortress 2 Update Released
Valve has deployed a fresh update for Team Fortress 2, introducing a series of map adjustments, cosmetic fixes, and exploit resolutions. The patch, which installs automatically upon restarting the game client, targets specific issues on the koth_dryfield map, resolves a teleporter exploit, and refines several war paint and sticker textures to improve overall gameplay stability and visual consistency.
Valve has officially launched a new product update for its long-running multiplayer shooter, Team Fortress 2. The patch has been deployed globally and is designed to install automatically once players close and restart their active game clients. This latest update focuses on a mixture of visual refinements, map-specific geometry corrections, and the elimination of certain gameplay exploits that have recently affected the community's experience.
Among the primary visual adjustments in this update is a refresh for the Taxi Cabbed war paint. Additionally, the development team has corrected the mip settings associated with in-game stickers and resolved an issue where the incorrect wear texture was being applied to certain items. These cosmetic adjustments aim to ensure that weapon skins and decorative elements render correctly across various graphical configurations and distances.
The update also introduces and updates several tournament medals, continuing Valve's support for the competitive Team Fortress 2 scene. These digital rewards are periodically added or modified to recognize the achievements of players participating in community-organized tournaments and leagues worldwide.
A significant portion of the patch notes is dedicated to fixing issues on the King of the Hill map, koth_dryfield. The developers have implemented a series of targeted geometry and structural fixes to improve the flow of combat and eliminate visual anomalies on this specific battlefield. Notably, the update addresses a teleporter prison exploit, which previously allowed players to trap teammates or opponents in inescapable areas using teleporter placements.
Further map adjustments on koth_dryfield include a fix for the broken geometry of the RED team's hut located near the central control point. The developers have also made an attempt to resolve a visual bug involving a flying RED roof that could be seen floating in the air from a distance. Additionally, a misplaced watercooler that was previously facing the wall has been rotated to its correct orientation.
To enhance player movement and tactical options on koth_dryfield, the update improves physical access to the balcony section, making it significantly easier for players to jump up to this elevated position. Finally, the developers have added numerous missing player clips throughout the map, which will prevent characters from clipping through solid objects or accessing unintended out-of-bounds areas during matches.
