Forge Your Legend: Building The Ultimate Nephilim In Crimson Moon

Crimson Moon is now available on Xbox Series X|S, bringing intense action-RPG combat to players. Developer ProbablyMonsters has detailed the game's high-stakes progression loop, which tasks players with hunting hellspawn in the fallen city of Gildenarch, securing randomized gear, and purifying it at their home base. The title also features two-player cooperative play and exclusive launch bonuses for Xbox players.

The fallen city of Gildenarch serves as the primary setting for Crimson Moon, a newly released action-RPG from developer ProbablyMonsters. Players step into the role of a Nephilim, a powerful human-angel hybrid, tasked with purging the city's corrupted streets, catacombs, and infected districts of various hellspawn, including demons, vampires, and undead abominations. The core gameplay loop revolves around embarking on high-risk hunts to gather randomized weapons and armor pieces that drop from defeated enemies and hidden chests.

To keep the gear they find during these dangerous excursions, players must successfully return to their home base, a sanctuary known as Sanctus Clypeus. Any equipment gathered during a run is only temporary until it is purified at this hub. Once purified, the items become a permanent part of the player's arsenal, ensuring they are not lost on subsequent hunts. This system encourages players to push deeper into Gildenarch's increasingly hazardous Wards in search of rarer and more powerful loot.

Crimson Moon eschews rigid, preset armor sets in favor of a highly customizable gear system. Each individual piece of armor—including helms, chest pieces, gauntlets, and greaves—comes with its own distinct statistics. These attributes directly impact combat performance by altering variables such as damage resistance, stamina recovery, ability strength, and the potency of special attacks. Players are encouraged to mix and match different pieces to tailor their Nephilim to their preferred playstyle, whether they prioritize aggressive offense or defensive endurance.

Weapons in the game are defined by unique abilities called Weapon Arts, which dictate how players engage in combat. Different weapons offer vastly different tactical options, such as executing a rapid lunge to close the distance to an enemy or unleashing a powerful shockwave strike. Additionally, players can tap into their divine heritage to trigger Angel Mode, a powerful transformation that alters movement and striking capabilities. The effectiveness of this angelic state is heavily influenced by the specific armor configuration the player has equipped.

The game also features a two-player cooperative mode designed to add strategic depth to character building. Rather than fielding identical characters, cooperative partners are encouraged to design complementary builds. For example, a player utilizing a highly aggressive build with high-damage Weapon Arts can pair effectively with a partner focused on crowd control, high endurance, or revival support. This synergy allows cooperative duos to tackle the game's most challenging content by combining their unique strengths.

Crimson Moon is currently available on Xbox Series X|S in two distinct editions. The Standard Edition is priced at $19.99, while the Deluxe Edition is available for $29.99. The Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with the Ceremonial Armor Set, a guitar-shaped weapon called the Axe of the Gods, and access to an upcoming post-launch content expansion. Standard Edition owners have the option to upgrade to the Deluxe version at any time for $10. As a special launch bonus, all Xbox players will receive the exclusive Hex-Knight armor set.
