Everything You Need To Know About DMZ Mode In Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Activision has detailed the upcoming DMZ extraction mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, launching October 23. The mode features a customizable Forward Operating Base, a 1-70 progression track, and diverse deployment options across Hajin.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23, bringing with it the return of the extraction-focused DMZ mode alongside the traditional Campaign and Multiplayer offerings. In this mode, players deploy into the region of Hajin to complete objectives, gather resources, and safely extract. Activision has detailed the core mechanics of this iteration, which centers around a customizable headquarters known as the Forward Operating Base.
The Forward Operating Base, or FOB, serves as the central hub where players prepare for their next deployment and manage their overall progression. Initially, players will have immediate access to several basic stations. These include the Operators station for selecting active characters, the DMZ Orders station for reviewing mission objectives, and the Stash/Loadout station for managing extracted loot and gear. Additionally, players can test their weaponry at the Firing Range before heading to the Deploy station to start a match.
As players complete operations within Hajin, they can expand their FOB by unlocking several advanced stations. A 3D Printer station allows players to craft gear and upgrade other areas of the base using gathered resources. The Gunsmith station enables weapon customization using DMZ Cash or extracted Weapon Manuals, while a rotating Vendor station offers weapons and gear for purchase. For tracking targets and achievements, players can unlock a Bounty Leaderboard, a Boss Board for high-value targets, and a Dog Tag Case to display trophies from defeated opponents.
Progression in DMZ is tied to a dedicated track spanning levels 1 through 70. Advancing through these levels rewards players and unlocks the various FOB stations. When preparing to enter Hajin, players can choose from three distinct deployment types to tailor their experience. Story Missions allow players to replay narrative-focused objectives, Dynamic Operations offer cash and experience rewards alongside squad supply drops, and Free Roam lets players explore Hajin City without active mission constraints.
To maximize experience points and progression, players are encouraged to focus on completing Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and Orders. Defeating powerful Lieutenants and Commanders scattered across the map also yields significant experience and high-value loot. Consistent looting is vital, as gathered items can be utilized at the FOB's 3D Printer to upgrade gear. At the end of each match, players receive an After Action Report rating their performance, with S-Tier ratings and above yielding the most valuable rewards.
Navigating Hajin requires careful planning, as different areas of the map feature distinct Threat Levels. High levels of noise can trigger aggressive responses from local enemies, making stealth a viable tactic. To traverse the map efficiently, players can utilize various land, water, and air vehicles, which can be refueled and repaired at designated Gas Stations. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is currently available for pre-order on the PlayStation 5 ahead of its October release.
