Discover The Secrets Waiting Inside Norček Industries In We Were Here Tomorrow

Total Mayhem Games has revealed new details about We Were Here Tomorrow, an upcoming cooperative puzzle adventure launching on Xbox Series X|S in October. Creative Director Martín Mittner shared insights into the game's retro-futuristic setting, Norĉek Industries, and detailed several unique environments that will challenge players to communicate across time, manipulate gravity, and navigate interdimensional rifts.

Total Mayhem Games has unveiled new details regarding We Were Here Tomorrow, the upcoming entry in its cooperative puzzle franchise. Scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X|S in October, the game transports players to a retro-futuristic research facility operated by Norĉek Industries. According to Creative Director Martn Mittner, the title aims to push the series into unfamiliar territory while preserving the core cooperative elements that define the franchise. The narrative begins with a rescue mission in the frozen Antarctic landscape that goes awry, leaving players trapped beneath the ice before they awaken inside the mysterious facility.

Upon waking, players are introduced to Director Kathleen Bowe, a scientist-turned-manager who oversees the facility and its ambitious research program. While Bowe initially appears charismatic, confident, and eager to assist the players in understanding their strange surroundings, the developers tease that there is more to her than meets the eye. As players venture deeper into Norĉek Industries, they will begin to question her true motives. The facility is centered around researching a mysterious interdimensional rift that could have massive global consequences, and players will find themselves playing a critical role in uncovering its secrets.

The game's environments showcase a variety of puzzle mechanics that require close cooperation. In the Greenhouse, a location featuring references to previous games in the series, players are separated by time. Actions taken by one player in the past will directly affect the other player in the future. By utilizing a time-swapping mechanic and communicating via walkie-talkies, players must describe their surroundings to understand the cause-and-effect relationships between their respective eras.

Another featured area is the Office of Tomorrow, which shifts the focus toward traversal and shared-space experimentation. In this zone, the traditional rules of gravity and architecture do not apply. Rather than being completely isolated, players navigate the same physical space together, requiring them to think creatively about how they use their tools to progress. This design represents an evolution of the series' formula, emphasizing joint experimentation over purely describing separate environments.

In contrast, the Optics Lab returns to a more traditional communication-focused puzzle design. Although players can see each other, they are physically separated and cannot reach one another. Each player has access to different information and must communicate clearly to set up a specific sequence of laser refractions. Mittner noted that visual proximity does not make the puzzles easier, as seeing a partner's actions can actually create new opportunities for misunderstanding, making the Optics Lab one of the most difficult challenges in the game's first act.

As the adventure progresses, players will eventually cross the threshold of the central rift into an area known as Beyond the Rift. The developers have kept details about this zone scarce to preserve the sense of stepping into the unknown. To survive the challenges of Norĉek Industries and uncover the truth behind the missing research team, players must rely on their unique roles, distinct tools, and constant communication to solve the asymmetrical puzzles ahead.
