Resident Evil Movie Popcorn Bucket Is Gross But Fitting

Regal Cinemas has unveiled a grotesque new popcorn bucket for the upcoming Resident Evil film directed by Zach Cregger. Designed to resemble a medical organ-transport bag, the unique collectible is scheduled to launch alongside the movie's theatrical release on September 18, 2026.

The trend of elaborate and highly specific theatrical popcorn buckets continues to grow, with the upcoming Resident Evil film becoming the latest major release to receive its own custom collectible. Theater chain Regal Cinemas has officially unveiled its exclusive promotional item for the movie, offering horror fans a uniquely grotesque container to hold their snacks during screenings.

Designed to look like a clinical organ-transport bag, the themed popcorn container directly references a prop from the movie. Specifically, the design is modeled after the medical bag carried by the character portrayed by actor Austin Abrams. The container is built to hold a large portion of popcorn, though its medical-aesthetic exterior is meant to look far less appetizing than its actual contents.

Promotional materials released by Regal Cinemas showcase the container alongside a realistic, beating human heart. However, the theater chain clarified in the fine print of its announcement that the collectible bucket does not actually include a beating heart. While the visual marketing leans heavily into the franchise's signature body-horror elements, the actual product is strictly a functional novelty container.

As of the initial announcement, Regal Cinemas has not yet disclosed the official pricing for the organ-transport popcorn bag. Tickets for the highly anticipated horror movie officially went on sale on September 1, 2026, giving fans the opportunity to secure their seats ahead of the mid-September launch. Additionally, certain promotional discounts are available, such as a potential five-dollar ticket offer for active T-Mobile subscribers.

The film is being directed by Zach Cregger, who is well-known for his work on the horror thriller Weapons. Cregger also co-wrote the screenplay for this Resident Evil adaptation alongside screenwriter Shay Hatten, whose previous writing credits include high-profile action and horror projects like Army of the Dead and the John Wick franchise. To mark the ticket launch, Cregger participated in a live question-and-answer session with fans on Reddit.

Scheduled to debut in theaters on September 18, 2026, the new Resident Evil film is already generating significant commercial momentum. Industry tracking suggests that the upcoming release is on path to secure the most successful opening weekend in the history of the entire film franchise. Alongside Austin Abrams, the movie features an ensemble cast that includes Zach Cherry, Paul Walter Hauser, Kali Reis, and Johnno Wilson.
